The Argentine music industry made a historic announcement on Wednesday: APTRA officially presented the first edition of the Premios Martín Fierro a la Música 2026, a new gala that seeks to establish itself as a reference within the country's most emblematic recognition. The launch took place at Madero Tango, according to the Argentine News Agency, and was attended by journalists, producers, artists, and industry representatives.

According to the organizers, there will be a house band, guest artists, themed musical segments, and public participation through social media voting. With institutional backing, an unprecedented alliance with Billboard, and a structure designed to celebrate the industry's diversity, the Premios Martín Fierro a la Música 2026 aims to debut as a key event for the Argentine musical landscape.

It was announced that the official ceremony will take place on April 12, 2026, again at Madero Tango: 'It's going to be a great party, we're preparing something spectacular,' said Smith.

One of the most significant announcements came from the executive director of Billboard Argentina, Gonzalo Luzza, who explained the unprecedented role the brand will play in the selection process. The strategic alliance with Billboard Argentina was also confirmed at the event.

Hosted by Pilar Smith and Diego Moranzoni, the event marked the starting point for an award show that aspires to faithfully reflect the current state of Argentine music.

According to her, Billboard's involvement will cover the definition of categories, the structure of the jury, editorial curation, and a mixed voting system that will combine specialists and public participation.

During the presentation, the extensive list of nominations for the inaugural edition was also revealed: more than 60 categories covering from Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Artist of the Year to technical awards, audiovisual production, digital metrics, and specific genres such as rock, pop, urban, cumbia, folk, electronic, indie, jazz, and music for film and television.

The ceremony promises a production especially designed for live music.
